One of the goals set by our parent company, Aviation Investment Resources, Inc., d/b/a AIRInc, in 1997, was to secure a home base in the southeast where aviators could obtain a full array of aviation services - an Aviation One Stop Shopping Mall.
In early November of 2001, AIRInc purchased Dixie Jet Service, Inc., a Fixed Base Operation (FBO) at Covington Municipal Airport (9A1) only 30 minutes east of I-285 on I-20 East of Atlanta, GA. That year, Dixie Jet Service moved from two double-wide trailers into a new facilities managed by Aviation Investment Resources, Inc. The new 20,000 square foot AIRInc facility includes a flight school occupied by Atlanta East Flight School , an aircraft maintenance facility occupied by Dixie Technologies, and the business offices and dispatch center for Atlanta-Southeast Air Service. The upper floor contains 11 large business offices available for lease to our Tenant-Partners and Member-Partners. AIRInc currently has 4 offices occupied by one of our Tenant-Partners Omniflight Helicopters. In addition, the new FBO facilities includes restrooms for men and ladies, a large two story atrium ceiling reception/lobby area, pilot's lounge, conference room, flight planning area, kitchen/refreshment area, and an additional restroom/shower area.
Attached to our new FBO Office Building, is our new 12000 square foot FBO Hangar which allows us storage for up to 16 aircraft of various size and type. We currently use the hangar for individual customer aircraft storage as well as for storage for our managed aircraft and charter fleet.
In addition to our new hangar, the purchase of Dixie Jet Service gave our company 7 acres including room for 16 individual hangar land leases, 60 tie-downs, and 3 acres of customer ramp area. Our new fuel farm which includes Jet-A and AvGas is conveniently located on this site.
